NFPA Changes for the 2007 Edition

The 2007 edition of NFPA 13 has been expanded to a 26 Chapter form and incorporates changes resulting from over 1150 submitted proposals and comments. This 90-minute online seminar will introduce the most significant of these changes along with some brief commentary provided by presenter Bob Caputo, a representative on the NFPA 13 Installation Committee.   It will benefit contractors, designers, AHJ’s, Manufacturers, and Suppliers.

Bob Caputo has been a member of the fire protection community for more than 25 years and has experience is all areas of the fire sprinkler industry. A former fire fighter trained in fire suppression at the U.S. Naval Fire Fighting Training Center in San Diego, Bob has been an instructor since 1989, teaching seminars for both American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) and NFPA. He holds fire sprinkler contracting licenses in multiple states. He represents AFSA on the NFPA 13 Installation Committee and is the author of AFSA's Project Management Tools program. He was named FPC Magazine's “Man of the Year” in 1994 and was named San Diego County Fire Prevention Officer of the Year in 1999.

Roland Huggins, P.E. is Vice President of Engineering and Technical Services  for the American Fire Sprinkler Association.  He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and is registered in Fire Protection Engineering. He is a member of the NFPA and SFPE. Huggins is a member of multiple NFPA technical committees, including NFPA 13 Technical  Correlating Committee, NFPA 13 Discharge Criteria, NFPA 25 Inspection and  Maintenance, and three NFPA 5000 (Building Code) committees; Technical Correlating Committee, Assembly Occupancies, and Industrial/Storage  Occupancies. NFPA activities have included participating on the editing of the 1999 and 2002 editions of the Sprinkler Handbook. Other national activities involve the NFPA Research Foundation, UL Standard Technical Panels, NICET, and SFPE (performance based design guide). He has conducted many seminars and presentations, as well as written numerous sprinkler-related articles.
